Second Van Linked to Barcelona Attack Found in Town of Vic

Aug. 17, 2017, at 1:53 p.m.: MADRID (Reuters) – A second van linked to an attack in Barcelona on Thursday has been found in the small town of Vic in Catalonia, local authorities there said on Twitter.

Police had cordoned off the area and were inspecting the vehicle, the city council said. Another van earlier mowed down crowds in a busy district in central Barcelona, killing at least 13 people according to local media.

Spanish media earlier reported that a second van had been rented as a getaway car by attackers.

WiP Media – Michael Vick Bad Newz Kennels – Role in Environment Population Terrorism Connection

Mainstream Access-to-Discourse Editors censorship of non-violent political grievances and problem solving activism facilitate a pressure cooker socio-political reality for their “If it Bleads, It Leads” corporate propaganda profits, in their knowledge application of:

  • Overpopulation/Consumption colliding with resource scarcity is one of the main causes of terrorism: “As long as there is some possibility of getting results by political means, the chances that any political group or individual will turn violent are truly radically small, or maybe vanishingly small”;
  • “The exposure in the media is what gets people’s attention. People follow what is happening in the news, not what is happening in the courts”;
  • “[Editors] abuse of media power, by means of strategies whereby they abuse public discourse/free speech resources; by providing certain parties with preferential and special access to such public discourse, and severely restricting or denying others any access to such public discourse;
  • Mainstream media avoid addressing or enquiring into root causes of problems as reported in How and Why Journalists Avoid Population – Environment connection; and censor non-violent root-cause problem solving activism.

Put Simply: Terrorists and their Victims are to the Corporate Media and Political Elite, what Bad Newz Kennels pitbulls Mel and Georgia were to Michael Vick, Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips and Tony Taylor. When editors deliberately deny problem solving political activists access to public discourse to raise consciousness about the ecological, political, psychological etc socio-political problems in communities that require solving; they create a socio-political pressure cooker environment, where the problems get worse and worse, and the activists are forced to confront the reality that their only access to public discourse problem solving on their issues of concern is: violent terrorism, the more spectacular and brutally violent, the greater the “If It Bleads, It Leads” coverage; and un/fortunately the greater the Corporate Media Profits, and Politicians ability to use such violence for their own agenda’s of greater state tyranny control.

Vic Tuesday Market

-Shinta Postcard: Tuesday Market in Vic Spain; Greetings from Kelantin Market Malaysia.
– Cities Tipes: Tuesday Market in Vic Spain.

Vic (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈbik]) is the capital of the comarca of Osona, in the Barcelona Province, Catalonia, Spain. Vic’s location is 69 km from Barcelona and 60 km from Girona. Vic’s position has made it one of the most important towns in central Catalonia. Vic lies in the middle of the Plain of Vic, equidistant from Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Vic is famous for its persistent fog in winter as a result of a persistent thermal inversion with temperatures as low as -10 °C and an absolute record of -24 °C.  Vic is of ancient origin. In past times it was called Ausa by the Romans. Iberian coins bearing this name have been found there. The Visigoths called it Ausona. Sewage caps on sidewalks around the city will also read “Vich,” an old form of the name. During the 8th and 9th centuries, Vic sat in the Spanish Marches that separated Frankish and Islamic forces. It was destroyed in 788 during a Muslim incursion. Afterwards only one quarter was rebuilt, which was called Vicus Ausonensis (vicus is Latin for city borough), from which the name Vic was derived. It was repopulated by Wilfred the Hairy in 878 who gained control over the high part of the city and gave up the lowest part to the bishop to construct the episcopal see. From then on, the city was ruled by the count of Barcelona and by the bishop of Vic. At a council in Toulouges in 1027, the bishop of Vic established the first Peace and Truce of God that helped reduce private warfare. During the 18th century the city was the first focus of the rebellion against the centralist policy of King Philip V of Spain. The conflict became the War of the Spanish Succession. In the early 20th century Vic had 9500 inhabitants, and in 1992 it hosted Roller Hockey events of the Barcelona 1992 Summer Olympics.

Michael Vick

Michael Dwayne Vick (born June 26, 1980) is a former American football quarterback who played 13 seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at Virginia Tech and was selected by the Falcons as the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. Vick’s NFL career came to a halt in 2007 after he pleaded guilty for his involvement in a dog fighting ring and spent 21 months in federal prison. His arrest and subsequent conviction garnered Vick notoriety with the general public, which lasted throughout the rest of his career. He was released by the Falcons shortly before leaving prison.

A search warrant executed on April 25, 2007, as part of a drug investigation of Vick’s cousin Davon Boddie led to discovery of evidence of unlawful dog fighting activities at a property owned by Vick in rural Surry County in southeastern Virginia, with extensive facilities for the activity. Media attention quickly grew as state officials investigated, soon joined by federal authorities. As separate state and federal investigations progressed, more details emerged about an interstate dog-fighting ring that involved drugs and gambling. Gruesome details of abuse, torture, and execution of under-performing dogs galvanized animal rights activists and expressions of public outrage. Vick and several others were indicted on federal and Virginia state felony charges related to the operation.[ In July 2007, Vick and three other men were indicted on federal felony charges of operating an unlawful interstate dog fighting venture known as “Bad Newz Kennels”. Vick was accused of financing the operation, directly participating in dog fights and executions, and personally handling thousands of dollars in related gambling activities.[93] Federal prosecutors indicated they intended to proceed under the provisions of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.

Badd Newz: Book Author, Kathy Strouse, has launched her first book, “Badd Newz-The Untold Story of the Michael Vick Dog Fighting Case”. She reveals the never before reported twists, turns, obstacles, plots, and setbacks that made building a case against superstar Michael Vick the challenge of a lifetime. Readers will be shocked to learn how close and how often Vick came to walking away from justice. Investigators were fueled by a determination to rescue the innocent dogs and to bring Vick and his Badd Newz crew to justice. The small team of “dead game” investigators put everything on the line to take a stand against the brutal “sport” of dog fighting. Strouse also introduces the undercover investigator known only as Dog Angel. A shadowy, elusive figure, he has worked for over 35 years infiltrating the underground world of dog fighting, rubbing shoulders with some of the most infamous characters in the “game”. The reader will learn how Dog Angel infiltrated the inner Badd Newz circle and used every skill in his arsenal to help make the case against them. No dog fighting case has ever captured the attention and the hearts of the public like the Michael Vick case. Most Americans had no idea that such cruelty even existed. The stakes in this case were very high. Success would send a message to dog fighters across the country that law enforcement was pledged to stamp out this cruelty and send the perpetrators to jail. Investigators knew they had to bring Vick to justice in spite of his wealth and fame. She needs YOU.’ I only knew what I heard about Pit Bulls (nothing good), but eight-month-old Fergie, who was born to be a “bait” dog, stole my heart. At the same time an unfortunate cat/kitten situation also needed my attention. Was it possible for me to foster a mother cat with her six-week-old kitten in the home of a Pit Bull? To my surprise, Fergie acted like she was their mother, sleeping and cuddling with the cats. What do I now know about Pitties? Devoted, lovable, and intelligent – I’d get another in a heartbeat.” -Gail Reed; – Amazon: Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories About Pit Bulls.

The Bridge: Bad Newz: Lost and Found Phone.

When El Paso Times journalist Daniel Frye refuses to answer Detective Marco Ruiz questions, Ruiz steals his cellphone, to access the data on Frye’s phone, to ascertain who was Rye’s informant, about various illegal immigration stories he wrote. After accessing the phone’s data, Ruiz covertly returns the phone to Frye; by dropping it in the El Paso Times Lost and Found. – The Bridge: Trailer.

The Bridge is an American crime drama television series, developed by Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid, that was broadcast on the FX network, and based on the Danish-Swedish series Broen/Bron. The show stars German actress Diane Kruger and Mexican actor Demián Bichir in pivotal roles. The series debuted on FX in the United States on July 10, 2013, and the series finale aired on October 1, 2014. The show was developed both in English and Spanish languages.

The Bridge follows two police detectives – one Mexican Chihuahua State police detective Marco Ruiz (Bichir), one from the U.S. El Paso detective Sonya Cross (Kruger) who is mentored by Hank Wade (Levine) – and their joint effort to capture a serial killer who is operating in both countries when an American judge known for anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge (the Bridge of the Americas) connecting El Paso, Texas, with Juárez, Mexico, menacing both nations along the Texas–Chihuahua border.  The story parallels the investigation by El Paso Times reporters Daniel Frye (Lillard) and Adriana Mendez (Rios).  Detective Sonya Cross, of the El Paso Police Department, works with Chihuahua State Police Detective Marco Ruiz, who knows about the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement. Ruiz’s whatever-it-takes approach doesn’t sit well with Cross, who has undiagnosed Asperger’s syndrome or a similar autism spectrum disorder and a by-the-book attitude when it comes to the job. But the two put their differences aside to solve a string of murders on the border, which is already infected with issues that include illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution. Their investigation is complicated by the rampant corruption and general apathy among the Mexican authorities and the violence of the powerful borderland drug cartels. The show title refers to the Bridge of the Americas that serves as a border crossing between El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, where the series is set.

EoP Applicants ‘strategic Path’ Re: David Petraeus Jordan Market Discussion with Bill Kristol

The EoP Applicants – ‘strategic path’ as such – as I interpret it – is to do what we can to provide impartial and bipartisan support to all political parties, religions, corporations, etc; their leaders and their followers enabling preferably not one but a few nation’s Minister of Defence – or courts – to collectively  inform their President/s of the national security military necessity of embarking on domestic and foreign policy education and negotiations to implement an Ecology of Peace international law social contract.

That would be my working hypothesis conclusion interpretation of figuring out what the informed consent order, should anyone accept it; should be; and that is partially what my Pro EoP Applicant or Pro WiP American; correspondence to Erik is based upon.

“We looked at the problem and thought we’d rather go through Jordan than Baghdad. … It was best captured by a sign on a door of a commander whom I went on patrol with his company; in what used to be a very dangerous part of Iraq and his brigade had done a magnificent job. I remember walking around with no body armour, no kevlar, watched the soccer game, walked through the market, made a few purchases. And we go back to his command post, which was a plywood door in some little makeshift office and there is a sign on it that says: “In the absence of guidance or orders; figure out what they should have been and execute aggressively”. .. I have found that it is the off the wall experiences; that have been the most developing. So when asked what would I advise: Do off the wall stuff” — David Petraeus; American Leadership in the World; Conversations with Bill Kristol.

David Petraeus – Strategy re: Cockroaches

A bright idea has come into Petraeus’ head: to take down one terrorist group with other extremists. Obama’s failed strategy to degrade and destroy the most brutal group in the Middle East is in dire need of a fundamental rethink and retired four-star general David Petraeus appears to be offering a bold but extremely controversial solution: use al-Qaeda to defeat the Islamic State. – Sputnik: The Wrong Approach.

Medieval Market under Vic Queralt Bridge

More than 100 000 visitors each year arrive to the Spanish town of Vic for Medieval market, naturally suitable to the atmosphere and architecture of the town. This is one of the oldest towns in Catalonia, which has in its architectural appearance Gothic, Baroque and even some elements of the architecture of the famous Gaudi. Vic and its surroundings are well-known about production of smoked sausages and Catalan sausage. Since the Middle Ages the town is the center of farms’ commerce and trade fairs. The Medieval fair in this medieval city looks like a natural element of the town’s life – in the midst of the medieval houses, in the center of the town, there is the huge medieval market with more than 300 stalls, offering medieval food, drinks, clothing, jewelry and small medieval craft souvenirs. The Medieval market in Vic also represents the diversity of local products, delivered from farms – meat, cheese, the famous Catalan sausage and fresh vegetables and fruits. At the fair visitors can also try the local delicacies and to see the work of medieval craftsmen, and all the town will be filled with the sounds of medieval music and theatrical costumed performances in the style of the Middle Ages. – Planturista: Medieval Market in Vic Spain.

Medieval Devils Bridge – Pont Du Diable – Devil’s Folk Myth / Folktale.

Devil’s Bridge aka Pont du Diable is a term applied to dozens of ancient bridges, found primarily in Europe. Most of these bridges are stone or masonry arch bridges and represent a significant technological achievement. Each of the Devil’s Bridges has a corresponding Devil-related myth or folktale.

Local lore often wrongly attributes these bridges to the Roman era, but in fact many of them are medieval, having been built between 1000 and 1600 AD. In medieval times some Roman roads were themselves considered beyond human capabilities and needs, and therefore had to have been built by the devil.

The bridges that fall into the Devil’s Bridge category are so numerous that the legends about them form a special category in the Aarne-Thompson classification system for folktales (Number 1191). Some legends have elements of related folktale categories, for example Deceiving the Devil (AT #1196), The Devil’s Contract (AT #756B), and The Master Builder legends. One version of the tale presents the bridge builder and the Devil as adversaries. This reflects the fact that frequently, such as in the case of the Teufelsbrücke at the St Gotthard Pass, these bridges were built under such challenging conditions that successful completion of the bridge required a heroic effort on the part of the builders and the community, ensuring its legendary status. Other versions of the legend feature an old lady or a simple herder who makes a pact with the Devil. In this version the devil agrees to build the bridge, and in return he will receive the first soul to cross it. After building the bridge (often overnight) the devil is outwitted by his adversary, for example by throwing bread to lure a dog over the bridge first, and is last seen descending into the water, bringing peace to the community. In the case of the Steinerne Brücke in Regensburg, the legend speaks of the devil helping in a race between the builders of the bridge and of the cathedral (in fact a significantly later construction), and a slight bump in the middle of the bridge is said to result from the devil’s leaping with rage upon being tricked out of his prize. In the legend of Teufelsbrück in Hamburg, which only leads over a small stream, the carpenter had a pact with the devil, and he promised him the first soul crossing the bridge. On the day of inauguration, while the priest and county councillor debated who should step on the bridge first, a rabbit crossed it and the disappointed devil disappeared. A statue refers to the legend there. Most of the bridges that have received the Devil’s Bridge appellation are remarkable in some regard, most often for the technological hurdles surpassed in building the bridge, but on occasion for its aesthetic grace as well, or for its economic or strategic importance to the community it serves.

Pont del Diable / Devils Bridge / Sant Bartomeu Bridge Martorell, Spain.

The Pont del Diable (Spanish: Puente del Diablo, English: Devil’s bridge), also known as Sant Bartomeu Bridge, is a medieval bridge crossing the river Llobregat and straddling the municipalities of Martorell and Castellbisbal in Catalonia, Spain. The bridge is restricted to pedestrians. The present bridge, featuring a large pointed arch, was constructed in 1283 on Roman foundations. The main clear span is 37.3 metres (122 ft) with a stone chapel on top.  A secondary arch has a span of 19.1 metres (63 ft). The bridge was destroyed in 1939 during the Spanish civil war by retreating Republican troops, but rebuilt in 1965 in a form generally similar to the gothic structure. It is now surrounded on three sides by road flyovers and railway lines. The original Roman bridge formed a part of the Via Augusta, and was the only bridge in the lower Llobregat valley until the 14th century. It still features a Roman triumphal arch at its eastern abutment. It is unclear how many spans the original Roman bridge had.

Pont du Diable / Devils Bridge / Ceret, France

The Pont du Diable (English: Devil’s bridge) or Pont Vieux (English: Old bridge) is a medieval stone arch bridge at Céret, France, built between 1321 and 1341. It spans the river Tech with a single arch of 45.45 metres (149.1 ft). At its apex the arch is 22.3 metres (73 ft) high. At the time of its construction it became the world’s largest bridge arch, being bigger than the Ponte della Maddalena in Italy which held the world record until then. It remained so until 1356, when the Castelvecchio Bridge in Verona (Italy) became the new largest bridge. Damaged during the war of the First Coalition (1792-1797), French general Luc Siméon Auguste Dagobert wanted to blow it up to keep the Spanish army from going back to Catalonia. The bridge was saved just before being destroyed thanks to the action of Representative Joseph Cassanyes and restored later. The locals wanted a bridge to be built across the river and called upon the devil to build it for them. The devil agreed on the condition that he would claim the first soul to cross the bridge. Once the bridge was built the locals sent a cat across for the devil to claim its soul. Then for many years afterwards no person would cross, just in case – a legend common to many devil’s bridges in France. … It features in a scene from the film The Hunchback by André Hunebelle, in which three swordsmen are sent to Spain to kill Lagardère and the daughter of the Duke of Nevers.

Kareth – Jewish/Talmud Religious Jurisprudence.

The Hebrew term kareth (“extirpation”; “cutting off”, Hebrew: כרת‎‎, [kaˈret]) is derived from the Hebrew verb karat (“to cut off”). The noun form does not occur in the Hebrew Bible. The plural, Kerithoth (“Excisions”), is the seventh tractate of the fifth order Kodashim of the Mishnah. In the Talmud, kareth means not necessarily physical “cutting off” of life, but extinction of the soul and denial of a share in the world to come.It is the punishment for serious crimes, some of which are also punishable by death by a human court. Kareth can mean dying young (before the age of 60), dying without children, or the soul being spiritually “cut off” from your people after death

CARET: Commercial Applications Research for Extra-terrestrial Technology – Access to Military Classified Information Joke/Rule: CARET: Civilians Are Rarely Ever Trusted.

This letter is part of a package I’ve assembled for Coast to Coast AM to distribute to its audience. It is a companion to numerous document and photo scans and should not be separated from them. You can call me Isaac, an alias I’ve chosen as a simple measure of protection while I release what would be called tremendously sensitive information even by today’s standards. “Sensitive” is not necessarily synonymous with “dangerous”, though, which is why my conscience is clear as I offer this material up for the public. My government has its reasons for its continual secrecy, and I sympathize with many of them, but the truth is that I’m getting old and I’m not interested in meeting my maker one day with any more baggage than necessary! Furthermore, I put a little more faith in humanity than my former bosses do, and I think that a release of at least some of this info could help a lot more than it could hurt, especially in today’s world.

The CARET Program: My story begins the same as it did for many of my co workers, with graduate and post-graduate work at university in electrical engineering.

And I had always been interested in computer science, which was a very new field at the time, and my interest piqued with my first exposure to a Tixo during grad school. In the years following school I took a scenic route through the tech industry and worked for the kinds of companies you would expect, until I was offered a job at the Department of Defense and things took a very different turn.

My time at the DoD was mostly uneventful but I was there for quite a while. I apparently proved myself to be reasonably intelligent and loyal. By 1984 these qualities along with my technical background made me a likely candidate for a new program they were recruiting for called “CARET”.

Before I explain what CARET was I should back up a little. By 1984, Silicon Valley had been a juggernaut of technology for decades. In the less than 40 years since the appearance of Shockley’s transistor this part of the world had already produced a multi billion dollar computer industry and made technological strides that were unprecedented in other fields, from hypertext and online collaboration in ’68 to the Alto in ’73.

Private industry in Silicon Valley was responsible for some of the most incredible technological leaps in history and this fact did not go unnoticed by the US government and military. I don’t claim to have any special knowledge about Roswell or any of the other alleged early UFO events, but I do know that whatever the exact origin, the military was hard at work trying to understand and use the extra-terrestrial artifacts it had in its possession. While there had been a great deal of progress overall, things were not moving as quickly as some would have liked.

So, in 1984, the CARET program was created with the aim of harnessing the abilities of private industry in silicon valley and applying it to the ongoing task of understanding extra-terrestrial technology.

One of the best examples of the power of the tech sector was Xerox PARC, a research center in Palo Alto, CA. XPARC was responsible for some of the major milestones in the history of computing. While I never had the privilege of working there myself I did know many of the people who did and I can say that they were among the brightest engineers I ever knew.

XPARC served as one of the models for the CARET program’s first incarnation, a facility called the Palo Alto CARET Laboratory (PACL, lovingly pronounced “packle” during my time there). This was where I worked, along with numerous other civilians, under the auspices of military brass who were eager to find out how the tech sector made so much progress so quickly.

My time at the DoD was a major factor behind why I was chosen, and in fact about 30+ others who were hired around the same time had also been at the Department about as long, but this was not the case for everyone. A couple of my co-workers were plucked right from places like IBM and, at least two of them came from XPARC itself. My DoD experience did make me more eligible for positions of management, however, which is how I have so much of this material in my possession to begin with.

So in other words, civilians like myself who had at – at most – some decent experience working for the DoD but no actual military training or involvement, were suddenly finding ourselves in the same room as highly classified extra-terrestrial technology.

Of course they spent about 2 months briefing us all before we saw or did anything, and did their best to convince us that if we ever leaked a single detail about what we were being told, they’d do everything short of digging up our ancestors and putting a few slugs in them too just for good measure.

It seemed like there was an armed guard in every corner of every room. I’d worked under some pretty hefty NDAs in my time but this was so far out of my depth I didn’t think I was going to last 2 weeks in an environment like that. But amazingly things got off to a good start. They wanted us, plain and simple, and our industry had shown itself to be so good at what it did that they were just about ready to give us carte blanche.

Of course, nothing with the military is ever that simple, and as is often the case they wanted to have their cake and eat it too. What I mean by this is that despite their interest in picking our brains and learning whatever they could from our way of doing things, they still wanted to do it their way often enough to frustrate us.

At this point I’m going to gloss over the emotional side of this experience, because this letter isn’t intended to be a memoir, but I will say that there’s almost no way to describe the impact this kind of revelation has on your mind. There are very few moments in life in which your entire world view is turned forever upside down, but this was one of them. I still remember that turning point during the briefing when I realized what he’d just told us, and that I hadn’t heard him wrong, and that it wasn’t some kind of joke.

In retrospect the whole thing feels like it was in slow motion, from that slight pause he took just before the term “extra-terrestrial” came out for the first time, to the way the room itself seemed to go off kilter as we collectively tried to grasp what was being said.

My reflex kept jumping back and forth between trying to look at the speaker, to understand him better, and looking at everyone else around me, to make sure I wasn’t the only one that was hearing this. At the risk of sounding melodramatic, it’s a lot like a child learning his parents are divorcing. I never experienced that myself, but a very close friend of mine did when were boys, and he confided in me a great deal about what the experience felt like.

A lot of what he said would aptly describe what I was feeling in that room.

Here was a trusted authority figure telling you something that you just don’t feel ready for, and putting a burden on your mind that you don’t necessarily want to carry. The moment that first word comes out, all you can think about it is what it was like only seconds ago, and knowing that life is never going to be as simple as it was then. After all that time at the DoD, I thought I at least had some idea of what was going on in the world, but I’d never heard so much as a peep about this. Maybe one day I’ll write more on this aspect, because it’s the kind of thing I really would like to get off my chest, but for now I’ll digress.

Unlike traditional research in this area, we weren’t working on new toys for the air force.

For numerous reasons, the CARET people decided to aim its efforts at commercial applications rather than military ones. They basically wanted us to turn these artifacts into something they could patent and sell. One of CARET’s most appealing promises was the revenue generated by these product-ready technologies, which could be funneled right back into black projects.

Working with a commercial application in mind was also yet another way to keep us in a familiar mind state. Developing technology for the military is very different than doing so for the commercial sector, and not having to worry about the difference was another way that CARET was very much like private industry.

CARET shined in the way it let us work the way we were used to working. They wanted to recreate as much of the environment we were used to as they could without compromising issues like security. That meant we got free reign to set up our own workflow, internal management structure, style manuals, documentation, and the like. They wanted this to look and feel like private industry, not the military. They knew that was how to get the best work out of us, and they were right.

But things didn’t go as smoothly when it came to matters like access to classified information.

They were exposing what is probably their single biggest secret to a group of people who had never even been through basic training and it was obvious that the gravity of this decision was never far from their minds. We started the program with a small set of extra-terrestrial artifacts along with fairly elaborate briefings on each as well as access to a modest amount of what research had already been completed.

It wasn’t long before we realized we needed more though, and getting them to provide even the smallest amount of new material was like pulling teeth. CARET stood for “Commercial Applications Research for Extra-terrestrial Technology”, but we often joked that it should have stood for “Civilians Are Rarely Ever Trusted.”

Pont del Diable / Devils Bridge / Les Ferreres Aqueduct; Tarragona, Spain

The Ferreres Aqueduct, also known as the Pont del Diable (Devil’s Bridge), is an ancient bridge, part of the Roman aqueduct built to supply water to the ancient city of Tarraco, today Tarragona in Catalonia, Spain. The bridge is located 4 kilometers north of the city and it is part of the Archaeological Ensemble of Tarraco (listed as a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site since 2000). The Tarraco aqueduct took water from the Francolí river, 15 kilometers north of Tarragona. It probably dates from the time of the emperor Augustus. Les Ferreres Aqueduct is composed of two levels of arches: the upper section has 25 arches, and the lower one has 11. All arches have the same diameter of 20 Roman feet (5.9m) with a variation of 15 cm. The distance between centres of the pillars is 26 Roman feet (7.95m). It has a maximum height of 27 metres (89 ft) and a length of 249 metres (817 ft), including the ends where the specus (water channel) runs atop a wall.

The legend of Devil’s Bridge: According to the legend, the Devil himself came over to Wales as he’d heard the scenery was breathtaking. He came across an old woman’s whose cow had wandered across the river. The woman was very sad, as she couldn’t get her cow to come back home. The Devil saw an opportunity and took it. He said to the woman: “What you need my dear, is a bridge, and I am just the man to build you one. Why don’t you go home, and in the morning there will be a bridge waiting for you. All I ask in return is to keep the first living thing to cross the bridge!” The woman considered this a bargain and agreed, but wondered why an earth did the creature think she’d offer herself to him in exchange for her cow. So the next morning, she took her faithful dog and they walked to the river. Lo and behold! A beautiful bridge had indeed appeared. “Now it’s your turn to keep your side of the bargain”, said the Devil. But the woman was clever: she took a loaf of bread out of her pocket and threw it over the bridge. Before the Devil could stop it, the dog had ran across the bridge trying to fetch the bread. “You stupid old woman”, screamed the Devil. “Your smelly, hairy dog has become the first living thing to cross my bridge. It’s no good to me!” and he disappeared and was never to be seen in Wales again. – Fangirl Quest: Devil’s Bridge: A Filming Location With A Devilish Story To Tell.

Herb: Tarragon

Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus), also known as estragon, is a species of perennial herb in the sunflower family. It is widespread in the wild across much of Eurasia and North America, and is cultivated for culinary and medicinal purposes. One subspecies, Artemisia dracunculus var. sativa, is cultivated for use of the leaves as an aromatic culinary herb. In some other subspecies, the characteristic aroma is largely absent. The species is polymorphic.[7] Informal names for distinguishing the variations include “French tarragon”, “Russian tarragon,” and “wild tarragon” (covers various states). Tarragon grows to 120–150 cm (47–59 in) tall, with slender branched stems. The leaves are lanceolate, 2–8 cm (0.79–3.15 in) long and 2–10 mm broad, glossy green, with an entire margin. The flowers are produced in small capitulae 2–4 mm diameter, each capitulum containing up to 40 yellow or greenish-yellow florets. French tarragon, however, seldom produces any flowers (or seeds). Some tarragon plants produce seeds that are generally only sterile. Others produce viable seeds. Tarragon has rhizomatous roots that it uses to spread and readily reproduce.

Rostock Cold War Nuclear Bunker Adam & Eve Sex Herb’s gather Mildew [Military Decisive Ecological Warfare]

East German Nuclear Bunker Opens to Tourists: A massive bunker built in the late 1960s to house East German naval operations in the event of nuclear attack has opened to visitors for the first time this summer. The Cold War time capsule reveals volumes about how the communists planned for nuclear Armageddon. – Der Spiegel: A Warm Grave in a Cold War.

Der Spiegel: A Warm Grave in a Cold War Photos: 14/25: A complex telephone dispatch center had capabilities that East German civilians could have only dreamed of. Phone service during that time remained at a pre-WWII level, while no expense was spared for military communication. 20/25: Spices were stored in everyday containers. During one tour, a woman cried out that she’d used the exact same plastic boxes to store her own spices during that time. 25/25: A sitting area and pictures on the wall, like this one by the popular French illustrator Jean Effel, decorated the room that held people on the verge of death.

‘Don’t Look at the Atomic Flash’:  The bunker was designed and built during the Cold War in Europe and an actual war in Vietnam. The Berlin Wall had been standing for just eight years when design and construction began in 1969. The facility went into operation on December 1, 1974. Construction cost 62 million East German marks, an amount equivalent to the average monthly salaries of 100,000 East Germans. At the time, the Iron Curtain divided Europe from the North Atlantic down through the Baltic Sea and all the way to the Black Sea. The western part of the Baltic Sea was the theater of operations for People’s Army ships. Germany, at the front line between the two military blocs of NATO and the Warsaw Pact, was seen as a strategic playing field for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction. This is where the global powers faced off, threatening one another and employing entire armies and segments of their countries’ industries to do so. If it had come to a conflict or an inadvertent exchange of blows, all of Germany, east and west alike, would have been destroyed by nuclear weapons. Every person in the country would likely have fallen victim to the blast wave, the heat and the radioactivity. For those many millions of people living in both East and West Germany, there were hardly any protective measures in place for cases of emergency. In the GDR, the laughably absurd instructions were, “Don’t look at the atomic flash, seek cover and lie down flat on the ground.”

Decisions about Life and Death [of Millions]: This combat post existed to serve only one purpose: commanding the fleet, in coordination with the military leadership of the Warsaw Pact. In order to do so, the commanding officer and his staff needed information sent in over radio, cable and pneumatic tubes. All divisions worked to support the command center, a large room furnished with a carpet and a map of the western Baltic Sea as its centerpiece. This is where, if it came down to it, decisions would be reached about the life and death of millions of people in West Germany, East Germany and Denmark.

Nodding Off in Paradise[Military Secret Society Regulations Failure to include Transparency Regulations In Event of End of Cold War/Peace]: The officers, sailors, secretaries, cooks, technicians, communications specialists, photo lab technicians, doctors or nurses who would have ended up in this bunker in the case of an attack would presumably have realized the situation they were in. They would likely have been forced to leave their families without saying goodbye. They would have known that if they opened that steel door, they would find a hostile nuclear desert. Meanwhile the stuffy air inside would be slowly running out. At this point, people inside would have likely drawn closer together, nearer to the ventilation system. This is precisely the location where someone saw fit to arrange a pleasant room with wallpaper and a sitting nook where the survivors could simply nod off when the oxygen was gone. Perhaps someone would have smuggled in a bottle of East German brandy. They would have told stories, had a drink and laughed, even though reality was impossibly sad. On the wall of this room is a framed picture by Jean Effel, a cartoonist who was popular in the GDR despite being French, a member of the class enemy. The picture shows Adam and Eve making love in paradise. The title is “The Creation of the World.” A larger and more modern expansion to the bunker was planned for between 1990 and 1994 for a further 63 million East German marks, but the democratic revolution in Eastern Europe and the fall of the Iron Curtain negated those plans. Those who knew of the secret bunker were never actually released from their vow of secrecy after the collapse of East Germany’s Socialist Unity Party (SED) or during the course of German reunification. The matter was simply forgotten. Military regulations hadn’t provided for the possibility that the Cold War might someday end.

Decisions about Life and Death for Billions: Lawrence Wilkerson: Presidents problems with their WiP Breeding / Consumption Oligarchs & citizens.

I would say — and I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theory normally, but I would say there were [citizens breeding & consuming above carrying capacity limits] forces behind that shadow, if you will, who were doing quite well … who were more or less feeding off the conflict … the president [of your country] right now is having a hard time trying to go after some of his [breeding/consumption above ecological carrying capacity limits] oligarchs [and citizens], who are just too corrupt for his own liking. And this is reaching a [ecological strain and economic inequity] point where it may be destabilizing for the [country; and cause national and international ecological and/or economic collapse] ultimately .. But at the same time, you have a situation here that’s ripe for a great-state relationship. … We need some sort of relationship like that between Washington and Beijing today, I think. And I do not mean in any way that we should rule the world together. What I mean is the [ecological & economic collapse consequences of WiP ‘right to breed/consume above ecological carrying capacity limits’ intnl law] challenges like we’re going to confront in the 21st century, challenges that could be [species ending] existential, challenges like climate change, challenges like enough water to drink, enough food to eat, and so forth — I’ve seen some projections that say — by climatologists whose views I respect, that say by the end of this century we could have only arable land and water enough for some half-billion people. What do we do with the other 9 billion? Where do we bury them? How do we deal with that kind of massive change in human relationships with this planet? So these are huge challenges. So what I’m saying is you need this kind of great-power relationship, this great-state relationship to begin to lead the [EoP truth and reconciliation responsible freedom] way for others to follow. — [EoP Amended] Lawrence Wilkerson: Real News: Reality Asserts Itself: Who Makes US Foreign Policy .. Jacobs Ladder Stone Steps / Devil’s Bridge / The Bridge on the Mynach / Monk, Ceredigion, Wales / Old Woman’s Cow Across the River.

Devil’s Bridge (Welsh: Pontarfynach, lit. “The bridge on the Monk”) is a village in Ceredigion, Wales, UK. Highly unusual “stack” of bridges across the gorge of Mynach. Here have been built three bridges – each new bridge over the older one. Oldest bridge is from 1075 – 1200, second – 1753 and the newest – 1901. – Prepare for Travel: Devils Bridge Wales. Alamy: Devils Bridge Wales.

Devil’s Bridge (Welsh: Pontarfynach, lit. “The bridge on the Mynach”) is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. Above the River Mynach on the edge of the village is the unusual road bridge from which the village gets its English name. The village is on the A4120 road, about 10 miles or 16 km east of Aberystwyth. The population of Pontarfynach community at the 2011 census was 455. The village is best known for the bridge spanning the Afon Mynach, a tributary of the Rheidol. The bridge is unusual in that three separate bridges are coexistent, each one built upon the previous bridge. The most recently built is an iron bridge (1901), which was built over a stone bridge (1753), which was built when the original bridge was thought to be unstable. The builders of the 1753 bridge used the original bridge (built 1075–1200) to support scaffolding during construction. The bridge is at a point where the River Mynach drops 90 metres (300 ft) in five steps down a steep and narrow ravine before it meets the River Rheidol. The set of stone steps leading down to the lowest bridge at the waterfall is known as Jacob’s Ladder. According to legend, the original bridge was built after an old woman lost her cow and saw it grazing on the other side of the river. The Devil appeared and agreed to build a bridge in return for the soul of the first living thing to cross it. When the bridge was finished, the old woman threw a crust of bread over the river, which her dog crossed the bridge to retrieve, thus becoming the first living thing to cross it.

Teufelsbruck Devils Bridge Devil Statue Rabbit – wagon accidents broken wheels

Teufelsbrück (Devil’s Bridge) is the name of the area around the mouth of Flottbek stream into River Elbe in Hamburg, Germany. It is located in the local subdistrict of Klein Flottbek and today belongs partly to the quarters of Othmarschen and Nienstedten. Initially, Teufelsbrück was the name of the bridge of the street of Elbchaussee over the Flottbek stream, later it was used for the area itself including nearby ferry pier and marina. The area lies south of the Jenisch park. The name goes back to an old legend. At the ford of the Flottbek stream, wagons frequently had accidents caused by broken wheels, so the inhabitants blamed the devil for it. A carpenter was assigned to build a bridge. But he made a pact with the devil and promised him the soul of the first creature crossing the bridge. On the day of inauguration, after a priest had blessed the bridge and the devil was looking forward for a human victim, the county councillor and the priest had a debate who should cross the bridge first. Meanwhile, a rabbit accidentally crossed it and the disappointed devil disappeared into the river. This legend exists in similar form also for other bridges in Germany (see Brickegickel (de)), as well as for the Teufelsbrücke in Schöllenen Gorge, Switzerland. A statue made of stone refers to the legend at Teufelsbrück. Earlier statues at this place were made of wood, but were stolen several times.

Wander the Map: Hiking the Devils Bridge Trail in Sedona AZ.

Sedona /sɪˈdoʊnə/ is a city that straddles the county line between Coconino and Yavapai counties in the northern Verde Valley region of the U.S. state of Arizona. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,031. Sedona’s main attraction is its array of red sandstone formations. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The red rocks form a popular backdrop for many activities, ranging from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails. Sedona was named after Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly (1877–1950), the wife of Theodore Carlton Schnebly, the city’s first postmaster, who was celebrated for her hospitality and industriousness. Her mother, Amanda Miller, claimed to have made the name up because “it sounded pretty”.

John Nash: Nuclear Game Theory, Beauty and Character / Nash Equation as adapted to EoP RH FR: EoP Cooperation vs WiP Competition.

Ecology of Peace Factual Reality: Ecology of Peace factual reality: 1. Earth is not flat; 2. Resources are finite; 3. When humans breed or consume above ecological carrying capacity limits, it results in resource conflict; 4. To sustainably protect and conserve natural resources in accordance to local and national carrying capacity limits; and restrict national and international inter-cultural resource war conflict; humans must implement an Ecology of Peace international law social contract that restricts all the worlds citizens to breed and consume below ecological carrying capacity limits.

The principle of cooperation to implement an Ecology of Peace international law as opposed to competition over resources that I use in my Ecology of Peace Facts summary; is based upon the Nash Equilibrium mathematical principles that John Nash [A Brilliant Madness: A Mathematical Genius Descent into Madness] won a Nobel Prize for Economics upon. Put simply: That in any conflict; those who cooperate to share resources and resolve the root causes of the conflict; would have a better chance of success and winning the fight; than those who say ‘the strongest’ shall win all the resources; and have the right to enslave the weakest.

In the Beautiful Mind movie; John describes this mathematics theory of cooperation to his student friends in a bar; like this.

They are sitting in a bar and in walks a beautiful blond Aryan woman; and they all start getting ready to fight each other to take her on a date; and John Nash laughs and tells them: Why fight about the few women you consider to be physically beautiful in appearance; instead of redefining beauty and cooperating to help all women to become beautiful in character. If you fight for a few physically beautiful women; only a few men will win a beautiful woman; if you redefine beauty in terms of character; you can then cooperate to help all women to grow beautiful characters; then every man in the process helps his own character; and goes home with a beautiful woman.

Similarly if humans cooperate to implement an Ecology of Peace international law social contract; then all the energy that is currently wasted by individuals, religions and races to fight over resources will no longer need to be wasted on resources; and humans will have more time and resources to investigate ideas such as whether God does or does not exist; or any other issue of concern they are interested in investigating to seek the truth about reality; but currently cannot do so; because they are just joining one or other religion for ethnic or religious tribal resource war purposes; in their Planet of the Apes fight for survival.

Imagine if Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin had invited Mao Tse-tun, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Neville Chamberlain to meet and discuss options for pooling their military resources to pressure the international legal community to implement an Ecology of Peace international law social contract; for the benefit of all individuals from all races, classes and religions interested in Ecology of Peace responsible freedom?

Imagine if Nelson Mandela and the ANC had invited Hendrik Verwoerd and the National Party to meet and discuss options for leading the world towards an Ecology of Peace international law social contract; by working together to implement an Ecology of Peace social contract for an ethical responsible freedom South Africa?

Imagine if America’s Billionaires invited each other; and other nations billionaires to meet and discuss options for cooperating to use Bilderberg, World Economic Forum etc conferences to educate the public in buck stops here language about ecological carrying capacity limits; to lead the world towards an Ecology of Peace international law social contract?

Imagine if Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch and the worlds television and newspaper publishers invited each other; and other nations Fortune 500 Corporate Capitalist Rape the Planet Propaganda Editors to meet and discuss options for cooperating to educate the public in buck stops here language on their television news channels and newspapers about ecological carrying capacity limits; to lead the world towards an Ecology of Peace international law social contract?

Humanure Handbook: Human Nutrient Cycle Intact / Broken Wheels

“Humanure” is a portmanteau of human and manure, designating human excrement (faeces and urine) that is recycled via composting for agricultural or other purposes. The term was first used in a 1994 book by Joseph Jenkins that advocates the use of this organic soil amendment. The term humanure is used by compost enthusiasts in the US but not generally elsewhere. Because the term “humanure” has no authoritative definition it is subject to various uses; news reporters occasionally fail to correctly distinguish between humanure and sewage sludge or “biosolids”.

Shit Sandwhich: You don’t have to be White to be Jewish

You Don’t Have to be Jewish is a 1965 comedy album written by Bob Booker and George Foster, the team behind the 1962 comedy album The First Family. The album features Lou Jacobi, Betty Walker, Jack Gilford, Joe Silver, Jackie Kannon, Bob McFadden, Frank Gallop, and Arlene Golonka, in a variety of roles, mostly Jewish, performing a mixture of jokes and comedy sketches. The album was highly successful, with syndicated columnist Walter Winchell calling the album “the No. 1 seller in Suburbia” and noting that as a popular gift “it has replaced the fountain pen at Bar Mitzvahs.” A sequel, When You’re in Love, the Whole World is Jewish, largely reunited the original cast but replaced the unavailable Golonka with her friend Valerie Harper. “You Don’t Have to be Jewish to love Levy’s” was an advertising campaign for Levy’s rye bread that began in 1961 and ran through the 1970s.

This is an image – little black school boy eating a sandwich – I made a little while ago that was playing off a famous ad campaign done by Levi’s Rye that essentially used people from different races in their ads to show people who “weren’t Jewish” enjoying their bread.  Time to set the record straight. – Pop Chassid: Elad Nehorai: 10 Photos to Remind you that Jews Don’t fit into a Stereotype (and Never Have).

Y is for Yakshit: Rothschild and Pentagon’s 18 Wheeler impending Yak shit economy

Excerpt of correspondence to ‘anti-war’ and ‘pacifist’ colleague; who demands that I give up my focus on ecological literacy; and focus on the zionist bankster conspiracy controlling the economy.  …….

So they could regain some sort of animal or human energy power type of ‘control’ in terms of directing their Bentley / 18 Wheeler economy where they wanted it to go; but its gonna go there much much slower.

But I would not have to explain this all to you, if you understood the basic principles of EROEI as the foundation of any economy; particularly industrial economy.

There is a massive difference between an economy with access to:
• 1:100 EROEI energy (oil from the beginning of the industrial revolution to 1970’s)
• 1:80-20 EROEI energy (oil from 1970’s to current)
• 1:10 EROEI (a solar or wind powered economy)
• 1:1-2.5 EROEI (an economy powered on wood or yak shit; or similar)

Consider the following:
• One spoonful of oil = 1 days labour by a fully grown man
• One tank of gas = 2 years manpower labour by a fully grown man (i.e. +- 750 days)

How much do you pay for a tank of gas in Santa Barbara?
How much would you have a fully grown man for 750 days of manpower labour?
Still think a tank of gas is expensive?

You know how much the US Military pay for a gallon of gas in:
• Iraq: $18
• Afghanistan major hubs: $15 / $30 / $50
• Afghan outposts: $100 – $500

Yak & Yak Butter Tea:

The domestic yak (Bos grunniens) is a long-haired domesticated bovid found throughout the Himalaya region of southern Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and as far north as Mongolia and Russia. It is descended from the wild yak (Bos mutus). The English word “yak” is a loan originating from Tibetan. In Tibetan, g.yak; it refers only to the male of the species, the female being called Tibetan: ‘bri, or nak. In English, as in most other languages that have borrowed the word, “yak” is usually used for both sexes. Domesticated yaks have been kept for thousands of years, primarily for their milk, fibre and meat, and as beasts of burden. Their dried droppings are an important fuel, used all over Tibet, and are often the only fuel available on the high treeless Tibetan Plateau. Yaks transport goods across mountain passes for local farmers and traders as well as for climbing and trekking expeditions. “Only one thing makes it hard to use yaks for long journeys in barren regions. They will not eat grain, which could be carried on the journey. They will starve unless they can be brought to a place where there is grass.” They also are used to draw ploughs. Yak’s milk is often processed to a cheese called chhurpi in Tibetan and Nepali languages, and byaslag in Mongolia. Butter made of yak’s milk is an ingredient of the butter tea that Tibetans consume in large quantities, and is also used in lamps and made into butter sculptures used in religious festivities.

One Less Car Freegan Yak Shit Cooking while Cycling Around the World to Create a New Culture.

Yak Shit Fire Lake Campfire Cooking in Pamir / Tadjikistan  October 2014 ….. Freegan is just one possible term or aspect to describe a life-practice, which tries to deal with the common structures of the dominating system and break with them. The term describes people who, mostly because of political reasons, consume vegan but also in general disagree with capitalistic and exploitative structures and want to fight them. It’s not only about minimizing the harm on animals through a vegan diet, but also for example about not to support big corporation and instead recycle the „waste“ which these supermarkets produce in tons every day. The term „freegan“ is put together from the words „free“ (no costs) and „vegan“. For me freegan is a practice, which doesn’t always mean that the same actions make sense for any place and situation. I personally try to avoid buying and consuming animal products. ….. Living differently… social rules, laws, values and norms have all been made up by people and often they are just repeated and reproduced without further thoughts. i don’t believe in the common way we are living right now. it is not considering natural laws,  it is not sustainable and definitely not fair. if i look at the system in which i grew up – there are just too many things i dont agree with for just excepting it as it is. as kids we have colourful dreams. why do we end up living in grey concrete blocks secluded from each other, working 6 days a week, leaving politics to others, sending our kids to be schooled by others… i believe we can find much more enjoyable ways to live – together and on this earth, to relate and exchange, to teach and learn, to meet our physical and emotional needs and to be happy in our lives. if we keep in mind that society with all its laws and rules was made by people it becomes clear that people are also able to change them and create new structures. what we need are good ideas and brave people who get together and design and live alternative models. that it is possible to create other ways of living which do not follow the logic of money, consumerism and competition is shown by many projects all around the world every day. no matter if we are talking about DIY bikeworkshops, food not bombs, autonomous houseprojects, living communities, food-coops or guerrilla gardens – there are so many initiatives which show that there are other ways to organize our life, without hierarchy and exploitation of humans and nature. those are the ideas, projects and people I want to meet on my way. so we can connect, share and create….a new culture.

Extra Environmentalist: Andrew Nikiforuk: Energy Slaves

Our command of energy resources has created amazing technologies and social systems at a grand scale, but at what cost? Where past societies shackled human muscle with force and subjugation to create an energy surplus, beginning in the late 19th century we have used coal, oil & gas to create an unprecedented energy abundance. As the era of surplus energy comes to an end, how will our systems reliant on energy slaves for mechanical and cognitive work adapt? How is the energy transition moving forward?

In Extraenvironmentalist #76 we discuss our global energy systems with Andrew Nikiforuk as we discuss his new book, The Energy of Slaves: Oil and the New Servitude. Andrew discusses ways of understanding our use and abuse of cheap energy. Then, Chris Nelder joins us to talk about the ongoing energy transition and how it is reaching a tipping point through the recognition of a financial carbon bubble, the German Energiewende and the decline of the traditional oil majors.

As Terence McKenna once said, “Reason, and science, and the practice of unbridled capitalism, have not delivered us into an angelic realm. Quite the contrary: they’ve delivered 3% of us into an angelic realm, completely overshadowed by guilt about what’s happening to the other 97% of us who are eating it!”

Truck Driving/Parking: Andrew Nikiforuk: Energy Slaves City Parking; Petro State Pipeline vs Democratic Government

Some people would argue that we have this invisible electorate, tens of billions of energy slaves, that have altered the environment – industrialized and fragmented it – that has enormously changed voting patterns and behaviors, where so much of democratic life seems to boil down to arguments about how fast our energy slaves, can speed through a city and where are they going to park. …. and let me end with one word from Terry Lynn Karl, that sums up the Petrostate predicament ‘It is much easier for a petro state to build a pipeline than it is to create and develop a representative government.’ – Andrew Nikiforuk; XE Network: Extra Environmentalist: Episode 76: Energy Slaves. Arich Ben-Naim: Entropy Second Law: Interpretation and Miss-Interpretations

This book presents a clear and readable description of one of the most mysterious concepts of physics: Entropy. It contains a self-learning kit that guides the reader in understanding the concepts of entropy. In the first part, the reader is asked to play the familiar twenty-Question game. Once the reader feels comfortable with playing this game and acquires proficiency in playing the game effectively (intelligently), he or she will be able to capture the elusive and used-to-be mysterious concept of entropy. There will be no more speculative or arbitrary interpretations, nor “older” or “modern” views of entropy. This book will guide readers in choosing their own interpretation of entropy. Readership: Undergraduate and graduate students in chemistry and physics, academics and lay persons. – Amazon: Entropy and the Second Law: Interpretation and Misss-Interpretations.

Ecology of Peace culture – academic, psychotherapy, legal etc – information may be of interest to individuals who are interested in information focused on (i) honest – race, religious, gender and cultural – relationships; (ii) an ecologically carrying capacity based perspective of observable factual reality; and (iii) non-violent cooperative problem solving focused on identifying and eliminating the root causes of problems.

Put differently, Ecology of Peace Radical Honoursty Factual Reality is EoP culture’s functional group shared system of thought and action frame of orientation:

Ecology of Peace Radical Honoursty Factual Reality aka Eco-Literacy:

[1] Earth is not flat.
[2] Resources are finite.
[3] When humans breed or consume above ecological carrying capacity limits, it results in ecological overshoot, resource depletion and resource conflict.
[4] Some of the socio-cultural and psycho-political consequences of overpopulation & consumption collision with declining resources include: poverty, slavery, unemployment, food shortages, food inflation, cost of living increases, urban sprawl, traffic jams, toxic waste, pollution, peak oil, peak water, peak food, peak population, species extinction, loss of biodiversity, peak resources, racial, religious, class, gender resource war conflict, militarized police, psycho-social and cultural conformity pressures on free speech, etc; inter-cultural conflict; legal, political and corporate corruption, etc.
[5] The root cause of humans breeding and consuming above ecological carrying capacity limits is the ‘right to breed and consume with total disregard for ecological carrying capacity limits’ clauses of the Masonic War is Peace international law social contract.
[6] If individuals, families, tribes, races, religions, political parties, corporations and/or nations sincerely – aka egological literacy – want to (a) sustainably protect natural resources for future generations; and/or (b) reduce class, racial and/or religious local, national and international resource war conflict; and/or (c) enable honourable, transparent and humane international cooperative de-industrialization and depopulation of the planet to return to living in accordance to ecological carrying capacity limits; they should (d)cooperate to nullify the ‘right to breed and consume with total disregard for ecological carrying capacity limits’ clauses and replace them with Ecology of Peace clauses that restricts all the worlds citizens to breed and consume below ecological carrying capacity limits; or be humanely eliminated from the planetary genepool.

Jordan Peterson: Re: Functional and Dysfunctional Interpretations of the World

So although there are a very large number of interpretations of the world; there are unbelievably severe constraints; on the number of functional interpretations there are in the world.

The postmodernists were actually wrestling with quite a difficult problem. The founders of postmodernism were by no means unintelligent and the actually put their finger on quite an important problem. The important problem that the put their finger on was the fact that any set of phenomena has a near infinite number of potential interpretations. That actually happens to be the case. That fact, lets say, was discovered simultaneously in a number of different disciplines … One of the disciplines was artificial intelligence … It was much more difficult to make a machine that could perceive the world, than it had originally been supposed. .. Part of the reason for the lack of artificial intelligence robots back in the 60’s was that the  artificial intelligence researchers, when they were starting to instantiate perception into their machines, learned that charting your course in the world might be a trivial problem, in comparison to determining how to perceive the world, and the reason for that is that there is a very large number of ways to perceive the world. The postmodernists actually cottoned on to this, and the claims they made was that there is a near infinite number of ways to interpret any given text; and that actually also happens to be the case. Then they said, well if there is a near infinite number of ways to interpret any text, how do you know if any given interpretation should take precedence over any other interpretation, which is also a perfectly reasonable issue. …. They went off the rails shortly after coming to that realization, and thats probably why they kept their alliance with Marxism fundamentally is that if you agree to the proposition, that all interpretations of all phenomena are of equal value or lack of value, then you can’t act in the world and the problem with that, is that if you are a human being you have to act in the world; cause otherwise you suffer miserably and then you die; and that seems to be an unacceptable outcome for most people. . . . The error in postmodernism is the failure to recognize that there are a finite number of credible interpretations of phenomena; and also a refusal to engage with the intellectual problem to determine to engage to find out what the finite number may actually consist of. I will give you a brief overview of how we happened to solve this problem as human beings. We do it partly biologically because we inhabit a biological framework that’s been developed over the course of about 3.5 million years; that severally constrains the manner in which we interpret the world. It constrains it such that we only tend to spontaneously manifest interpretations of the world that don’t result in undue suffering and our demise. There is plenty of ways to be stupid enough to perish and there are plenty of ways to be stupid enough to suffer without meaning; but there aren’t very many ways to live properly and carefully for a long period of time; in a manner that doesn’t also simultaneously do harm to other people. So that is the second set of constraints. You have biological constraints on your perception and they are built in, as a consequence of the Darwinian process; and the second part is that you are forced to interact with yourself now in this week, next week, and the month after. So you have to conduct yourself in a way that doesn’t interfere with your future life as you are living now. And simultaneously you have to conduct yourself in a way that makes all the people around you want to cooperate with you and compete with you; and maintain the relationship with you and do that today, and next week and next month. So although there are a very large number of interpretations of the world; there are unbelievably severe constraints; on the number of functional interpretations there are in the world. And one of the things that the humanities was supposed to be educating the people with regards towards understanding was: what the universe of those finite functional interpretations might be; and that has been more or less abandoned by the universities; under the values of postmodernism.

The fact that the postmodernists dare to be Marxist, is something that I find not so much intellectually reprehensible as morally repugnant. One of the things that the Marxist postmodernists continually claim is that they have compassion for the downtrodden, and I would say that anybody with more than a cursory knowledge of 20th century history who dares to claim simultaneously that they have compassion for the downtrodden and that they are Marxist, are revealing either their ignorance of history that is so astounding its a miracle, or a kind of malevolence that’s almost unspeakable.  We already ran the equity experiment over the 20th century and we already know what the Marxist doctrines have done for oppressed people around the world, and the answer to that mostly was imprison them, enslave them, work them to death or execute them. As far as I can tell that’s not exactly commensurate with any message of compassion. So I don’t think the postmodern Neo-Marxist have a leg to stand on ethically or intellectually or emotionally. I think they should be gone after as hard as possible, from an intellectual perspective. This is fundamentally a war of ideas and that’s the level of analysis that it should be fought upon. Not only is it a war of ideas, I think its a war that could be won, because I think the French intellectual postmodernists are a pack of uhm, what would you call them. Start with charlatans, or pseudo-intellectual would be a good one. I would also consider them highly deceptive in their intellectual strategies because almost all of them were Marxists student intellectuals, and they knew by the time the Gulag Archipelago came out, and even before that, that the nightmares of the Soviet Union and Maoist were of such magnitude that they had completely invalidated any ethical claim to justification that the fundamental Marxist manifestation had managed to manifest. So its a no go zone, as far as I am concerned.  Intellectually the games over, we’ve already figured out that there are finite constraints on interpretations, and we also understand how and why those exist and evolved. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever in the 21st century to put forth Marxist doctrines as if.they are the balm that is administered by the compassionate to the downtrodden. Sorry, tried that, didn’t work. We’ve got a hundred million corpses to prove it. That’s plenty for me, and if its not enough for you; well then you should do some serious thinking; either about your historical knowledge or about your moral character.

So the next thing is what to do about it, apart from just talking about it. ……….. [Cut university funding to Women’s studies, Ethnic and Racial Studies, etc] cause the public should not have to fund a fifth column whose fundamental aim is to disrupt the structure of western civilization. ….  [the postmodernists should be starved at their source]…..freshman and second year university students coming into university from high school need to be educated about the post modern cult and they need to be encouraged  to not take the courses .. humanities enrollments have been declining since the 60’s and a big part of that is why in the world would you go as a half confused into university and get whatever shreds of culture that you should cling to to keep your poor head above water; in the sea of chaos that threatens to surround you, taken away by your professor, so that you are stripped bare of everything, but some vague sense that maybe you are a horrible racist unconsciously in some manner that you cannot detect, and be left with nothing but that for your hundred thousand dollar investment, and your bloody student loan. So people have not been enrolling in that …. Postmodern Neo-Marxism is nothing but a cult .. except that its a cult that doesn’t have enough economic sense to run itself at a profit. So, not only is it a cult, its a failed cult. So, it is a cult that has to be subsidized by the public purse in order to exist at all.  Thats a pretty damn pathetic cult. Because if you are a decent cult leader you can at least figure out a way to pick the pockets of your victims in a manner that enriches you. They can’t even manage to get that right, which accounts for the anti-capitalist bias; because they haven’t been able to transform their ideological doctrine into some way of making themselves spontaneously rich. . ……

One of the things I was quite curious about is the Neo-Marxists insistence that the only true human motivation is power. I think that was a sleight of hand, because the original Marxist doctrine was that western capitalist society is basically best conceptualized as a zero sum game fought to the death between the oppressors and the oppressed, who would be the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. … … and that’s where we got the transformation into identity politics; which is just the Marxist doctrine in a new guise. I just think its reprehensible for people to be conducting themselves intellectually that insists that the most important element of any student is, whatever racial, gender and sex identity happens to be flavour of the month. I think …. If you are 1/8th black, are you black or white, are you oppressor or oppressed, are you less oppressed than someone who is 1/4th black? …. Since we know the only thing they believe in is power… we can be absolutely sure they will have no hesitancy to use power in the seeking of their aims. I think the other reason the only thing postmodernists ever do is talk about power, is because they want to justify their use of power to get exactly what they want, when they want it. There is nothing but power. Alright if there is nothing but power, that means we are at war over power. If that is the claim you make, then you can justify the use of power cause there isn’t anything else to turn to, there is no logic, there is no dialogue there is no consensus, there is no discussion between well-meaning people. There is nothing but divisions between power groups and identity groups and a Hobbesian state of war between all of us. … Well then that is what I think they want, to divide us all by race and ethnicity and sexual identity and sexual preference, and sexual expression and gender identity; and all these multiplying forces of group identities; which seems to be nothing but an invitation to chaos. So I am going to set up a few websites for university students and high school students, to tell them that perhaps they don’t need to go to university to be indoctrinated to learn. And if they want to learn the difference between an educator, and someone whose mainly interested in indoctrination, and the production of the next generation of pathetic whining radicals, then they can use the website to distinguish between people who are credible and people who aren’t; and maybe we can drop the damn enrollment in those horrible courses by 75% in the next three years and just stop it in its tracks. .  .

What students need to know before they take the courses is to know what it is that these course are aiming at, so that needs to be explained. Then they need to know what language the people who teach these courses are using in order to fulfill those aims. Then they need to identify the courses and to know that its in their best interests spiritually and economically to avoid those courses and those disciplines like the plague. Then maybe we can get the disciplines that have become entirely corrupt and the one’s that started that way, to put themselves back together before they run themselves out of existence completely. … the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario’s plan – as stated on their website — is to re-organize the curriculum’s from kindergarten to grade eight, so that children are taught to be social justice warriors from the moment they step foot in the public education system. ….

Individuals who cooperate with ego literate clear honest – including brutally honest – sincere communication [Douglas Fir Forest], can accomplish far more with a small amount of energy/resources/time; than ego illiterate individuals who compete with bullshit the public relations spin, deception, passive aggressive, plausible deniable, obsfucation, requiring a huge amount of resources to accomplish the same task [Quarry Burn].

Life and the Second Law: Surface Temperature (C) vs Transect Distances (M): Figure 3: A thermal Infrared Multichannel Scanner (TIMS) profile over a varied landscape in the Braulio Carrillo National Park in Costa Rica (done by Luvall et al, 1990). The TIMS is mounted on an aircraft measuring six thermal channels in the wave length channels of 8.2 to 12.2 um and flown over a 400 meter transect. Temperatures are canopy temperature values calculated from net reradiated thermal energy. Temperatures showed that forest fire burn was the warmest system (it did not degrade as much incoming energy) and the tree island the coldest (best degrader). The pasture degraded energy in an intermediate fasion. Airborne thermal imaging may hold great promise for rapid evaluation of terrestrial ecological integrity. — Excerpt: Life as a Manifestation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics (Schneider and Kay, 1995) [PDF]; referenced by Paul Chefurka in The Thermodynamics of Civilization. Taganrog Quarry: Gully of Petroshino aka Gully of Death:

Gully of Petrushino [archive.is/HrmfS] (Russian: Петрушинская балка or Балка смерти from German: Todesschlucht) is a site on the outskirts of Taganrog, Russia at which 7,000 Soviet civilians were massacred by the German military in 1941-1943 during the Occupation of Taganrog. Petrushino is a thin sand spit on the Gulf of Taganrog, Azov Sea on the Southwestern outskirts of Taganrog. The Gully of Petrushino is a quarry situated near Beriev Aircraft Company, which was formed in the early 20th century after extractions of clay for a no longer existing brickworks. On October 17, 1941, the armored divisions SS Division Wiking and 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler of 1st Panzer Group arrived on the outskirts of Taganrog and several panzers made breakthrough to the seaport and opened fire at gunboats “Krenkel” and “Rostov-Don” and the last transport ship evacuating women and children. The city was left by the Red Army on October 22, 1941. The SS Einsatzgruppe Sonderkommando 10a performed systematic genocide of Taganrog citizens from the first days of occupation. The large groups of citizens (old men, women, communists, young communists, gypsies, Jews, and anyone suspected in aiding the Taganrog resistance movement) were taken from Vladimirskaya Plaza in Taganrog to Petrushino village (near Beriev) and shot in the Gully of Petrushino (Todesschlucht). The massacres in Taganrog started with the Final Solution of the Jewish question. On October 22, 1941 the Ortskommandant issued an order for all Jewish people to wear a Star of David sign and to register at the Ortskommandantur. It was followed by Appeal to the Jewish Population of Taganrog signed by the Ortskommandant Alberti. The “appeal” was calling all Jews to assemble on October 29, 1941 at 8:00AM on Vladimirskaya Plaza in Taganrog from where they were supposed to be taken to a ghetto. Alberti explained this measure as necessary due to alleged rise of antisemitism among local population, and that the German police and Gestapo would better manage the question if the Jewish population were separated into a certain district of the city. On October 29, 1941 all Jews of Taganrog (around 2,500 people) were gathered on Vladimirskaya Plaza, promptly registered at the building of the school no.27 in front of Vladimirskaya Plaza and taken by trucks to the Gully of Petrushino near Beriev Aircraft Factory, where they were shot to death by Schutzmannschaft collaborationists under control of Otto Ohlendorf’s Einsatzgruppe D. Of all the Jewish children who lived in Taganrog in 1941 only a 14-year-old boy Volodya Kobrin (Russian: Кобрин, Владимир Моисеевич) managed to escape the certain death, thanks to the help of various people in Taganrog and especially Anna Mikhailovna Pokrovskaya, who was awarded the title of the Righteous among the Nations by the Professor Alisa Shenar, Ambassador of Israel in Russia on July 19, 1996.

Collective Change, Clarity of Language Enable Trust & Cooperation

  • When Actions required of individuals for collective change are Clear and unambiguous, trust and incentives for cooperation are strong; and the chances are greater that such change can be implemented and enforced.

Navy Marines: A Few Good Men: Can You Handle The Truth?

– You said, you told Kendrick to say that Santiago wasn’t to be touched.
– He was clear on what you wanted?
– Crystal.
– Can he have ignored the order?
– Ignored the order?
– Or forgot it?
– No.
– Could he have thought, “The old man is wrong”?
– When Lt. Kendrick talked to the men, any chance they ignored him?
– Ever been in the infantry, son? Ever served in a forward area? Ever put your life in another man’s hands, and his in yours? We follow orders, son. Otherwise people die. It’s that simple. Are we clear?
– Are we clear?
– Crystal.
– One last question, before I call Airmen O’Malley and Rodriguez.
– If you ordered that Santiago wasn’t to be touched, – and your orders are always followed, – then why was Santiago in danger?
– Why would it be necessary to transfer him off the base?
– He was a substandard Marine. He was being transferred…
– You said he was transferred because he was in danger. I said, “grave danger?” and you said… we can read it…
– I know what I said!
– Then why the two orders?
– Men can do things on their own.
– But your men never did.
– Your men obey orders. So Santiago wasn’t in danger, right?
– You snotty little bastard.
– I request a recess.
– We’ll wait for an answer.
– The court will wait for an answer.
– If Lt. Kendrick gave an order that Santiago wasn’t to be touched, why did he have to be transferred? Kendrick ordered a Code Red, because you told him to! And when it went bad, you signed a phoney transfer and fixed the logs! You coerced the doctor! Colonel Jessep, did you order the Code Red?
– You don’t have to answer that.
– You want answers?
– I want the truth!
– You can’t handle the truth!
– Son, we live in a world with walls that must be guarded. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have more responsibility han you can fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines. You don’t know what I know. Santiago’s tragic death saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque to you, saves lives! But deep down, in places you don’t talk about at parties, you need me on that wall. We use words like honour, code, loyalty. They’re the backbone of our lives. You use them as a punchline! I haven’t the time or inclination to explain myself to a man who needs my protection but questions the way I do it. Better just to thank me. Or pick up a gun and stand a post. But I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
– Did you order the Code Red?
– You’re goddamn right I did!
– A Few Good Men: Can You Handle the Truth?.

A Few Good Men is a 1992 American legal drama film directed by Rob Reiner and starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, and Demi Moore, with Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, Wolfgang Bodison, James Marshall, J. T. Walsh and Kiefer Sutherland in supporting roles. It was adapted for the screen by Aaron Sorkin from his play of the same name but includes contributions by William Goldman. The film revolves around the court-martial of two U.S. Marines charged with the murder of a fellow Marine and the tribulations of their lawyers as they prepare a case to defend their clients.

Code Red: Eve’s Seed: History and ‘Control of Reproduction’ Religion of Masculine Insecurity:

The seed metaphor reversed the apparent positions of the sexes in regard to procreative power. What had always appeared to be a principally female power was transformed into an entirely male power. No longer apparent bystanders in reproduction, men now claimed to be the reproducers, while women were reduced from the seeming creators to the soil in which men’s creations grow. Women were left with all the work of procreation, but men now took all the credit.

During the Neolithic Age, then, women both ceased to be major producers (as men took over the production of plant food along with continuing their traditional responsibility for providing animal food) and ceased to be seen as having reproductive power.

The woman-made world of agriculture had, paradoxically, become a man’s world to a degree unprecedented in human existence. Hell hath no fury like a man devalued.

The belief that men have procreative power led inevitably to the conclusion that the supreme Creative Power must also be male. The toxic fruit that grew from the seed metaphor was male monotheism.

The combination of the belief that God (or the god who is the ultimate creator) is male with the notion that humans are created in God’s image yielded the inescapable conclusion that men are closer than women to godly perfection. Thus the line from the misconceptions about conception emanating from the seed metaphor to the belief, given its classic expressions by Aristotle, Aquinas, and Freud, that women are deformed or “incomplete” men is clear and direct.

As is suggested by the fact that the root of the word authority is author, it is the erroneous idea that men are the “authors” — the creators — that has formed the largely unspoken but pervasive basis for male authority throughout history. A clear example is the patria potestas that gave an ancient Roman man the power to “dispose of” his children. A father was thought to be the creator of “his” children and so he was granted the right to take away the life he was supposed to have given.

The seed metaphor and the mistaken conclusions that followed from it enabled men to stand womb envy on its head. The reversal was given its most influential religious authority in the Bible. The human female is named woman (meaning “out of man”) in Genesis 2 because we are told that the first woman was born from a man. And in Genesis 3 woman’s creative power is reclassified as a curse and burden: “in pain you shall bring forth children.”

The reversal of womb envy found its strongest “scientific” authority in Aristotle’s Generation of Animals, where he argued that the great defect in women is that they lack generative power. In earlier times, when the male role in procreation was not comprehended, men had seemed like “infertile women” or “deformed women.” Aristotle asserted that it was the other way around. By contending that menstrual fluid is a weak form of semen, lacking in the male fluid’s life-giving powers, he also reversed the non-menstrual syndrome. He was saying, in effect, that men have the good genital discharge and menstrual bleeding is just a weak, infertile form of the powerful male secretion.

Once the seed metaphor had sprouted into the idea that God is male and so women are inferior, the original “notawoman” definition of manhood took on new and more menacing implications. Now what had been an essentially horizontal division became a clearly vertical one: traits and values associated with women were not simply classified as improper for men, but as inferior.

The total subordination of women throughout recorded history is but the first part of the devastating legacy of the Neolithic backlash and the seed metaphor. Equally important has been the concomitant suppression in men of all values, ideas, and characteristics associated with women and so defined as inferior.

Since many of the values classified as “feminine” (such as compassion, cooperation, nurturing, and self-sacrifice) are essential for the well-being of human societies, ways had to be found to bring them back, at least to a degree. This was accomplished principally through a series of male religious and philosophical figures, between the sixth century BCE and the first century CE, ranging from Confucius and the Buddha through the later Hebrew prophets and Jesus. These men preached the values that had been defined as feminine to men as well as women.

Religion has played a paradoxical role in the shaping of history based on sex. On the one hand, most religions since the rise of male monotheism have provided major weapons in advancing the argument of male superiority and female subordination. The paradox lies in the fact that religions have also been the principal means through which the more “feminine” characteristics and values have been urged upon society (especially men).

The need to appeal to men was at cross purposes with the objective of religions to restrain some of the maladaptive traits that are classified as “masculine” (e.g. quick resort to violence, hierarchical domination, and competitiveness). Men were unlikely to listen to women telling them to act in ways that had been defined as “feminine,” so a male priesthood seemed essential. But the men who took over Christianity had by the fourth century gone a long way towards “efeminating” (removing its feminine characteristics) the religion.

The basic problem insecure males have with sexual equality is that it threatens to re-establish a single human standard, one that includes areas in which men are unable to compete. Hence such men react fiercely and attempt to reinforce the wall they have erected between the sexes.

“… an organization cannot have a conservation policy without having a population policy.
… the sanity test—in which the candidate, confronted with an overflowing sink, is classified according to whether he reaches for the mop or the faucet.” – Daniel B. In the early and mid-1960’s, the population issue came up frequently at Sierra Club annual meetings. One frequent advocate of population control was Daniel Luten, a chemist who spent two years in Japan as a resources advisor to General Douglas MacArthur. “Does a wilderness program, a wilderness policy, without a population policy make any sense? he asked at the 1961 meetings. Luten also specifically attacked America’s growth fetish: ‘If we believe, with Lord Keynes, that a capitalist economy must grow to survive, then we will perhaps seek a society with an ever-growing population.” – Google Books: The Malthusian Moment: Global Population Growth and the Birth of American Environmentalism, by Thomas Robertson.

Daniel B Luten – Luten Arch Bridge Builder & Engineer.

Daniel B. Luten also known as Daniel Benjamin Luten (Dec. 26, 1869-July 3, 1946) was an American bridge builder and engineer based in Indianapolis, Indiana. He designed and patented the Luten arch, a type of concrete arch bridge. He obtained more than 30 patents eventually, including various refinements of design that used transverse and other reinforcement which allowed bridges to be lighter. “By 1919, Luten claimed to have designed some 17,000 arches, and stated that examples of his designs could be found in all but three states of the Union. Indiana alone had some 2,000 Luten arches.” He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1869.

EoP Obs: WiP Legal Matchstick Bridge Collapse

Ecology of Peace Radical Honoursty Culture Info includes the following observations regarding WiP Legal Matchstick Bridges:

Honour Truth based upon Evidence Credibility:

A state with fuck all interest in ‘honour credibility’ – i.e. no interest in basing its laws upon the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, based upon the evidence, the whole evidence, and nothing but the evidence; is like an engineer building a bridge for 50 million tonne train crossing; who builds his bridge with matchsticks instead of cement and steel; because his ‘fuck honour engineering gods told him that he can build bridges based upon ‘fuck gravity legal principles’; with matchsticks; and he does not need millions of tones of concrete and steel to hold that 50 million tonne train in the air; to enable it to cross from one cliff to another. When that 50 million tonne train begins to cross that matchstick bridge; both the train and matchstick bridge are going to crash down the cliff.

Engineers who build bridges based upon honour factual reality; that include public recognition that the bridges they build must make buck stops here recognition of gravity laws; build bridges for a 50 million tonne train; which can probably hold up a 70 or 80 million tonne train. The train driver has very high trust; that he can drive his train over a bridge built by an engineer who built bridges based upon honour factual reality that include public recognition that the bridges they build must make buck stops here recognition of gravity laws.

An engineer that ignores scientific — gravity, steel strength etc — rules; when building his bridge; because his ‘political correct’ or ‘conservative’ or ‘liberal’ or ‘muslim’ or ‘christian’ or ‘buddhist’ gods don’t like, or are offended by scientific — gravity, steel strength rules — is going to be the builder of a collapsing bridge.

Lawyers, legislators, prosecutors and judges who give a fuck about the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, based upon the evidence, the whole evidence, and nothing but the evidence; build high trust steel bridge societies; where a citizen knows they can go to the court; to find an impartial arbitrator on any issue in dispute; that will help both parties to find the truth, and nothing but the truth; based upon the evidence.

Citizens, Lawyers, legislators, prosecutors and judges who do not give a fuck about the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, based upon the evidence, the whole evidence, and nothing but the evidence; build low or no trust societies. In a low or no trust society; every court – whether official juridical court; or the media court of public opinion – is effectively a legal ‘fuck ecological carrying capacity gravity laws’ ‘matchstick bridge’.

In a nation of low or no trust; where every court is effectively a legal matchstick bridge; you are better off finding an alternative dispute resolution buck stops here steel bridge’ arbitrator – no different to a buck stops here steel bridge policeman; such as for example Dagestan policeman Magomed Nurbaganov [Crime Russia, Russia Today,Kremlin, Kremlin]; US Marine California Corrections Officer’s Richard Caruso and Steve Rigg [Prison Legal News,Esquire]; President Thomas Sankara [AfrikaNewsItaly], Mustafa Kemal Attaturk [Mark Campbell], Serpico [Worley Clarence] — if you are sincerely interested in resolving your dispute based upon the truth and the evidence.

Citizens and/or their military, legal, religious and/or political leaders who don’t give a fuck about ‘the truth, the whole truth; and nothing but the truth; based upon the evidence, the whole evidence; and nothing but the evidence’ with their own ego’s; who have made fuck all sincere efforts to engage their ego’s; and/or their citizens and/or their leaders based upon Buck Stops here communication principles; to support buck stops here citizens, military, legal, religious and/or political leaders to build buck stops here steel bridge families, communities, nations and planetary society; should not be surprised when they help to (a) co-create a low trust or no trust military, racial, religious, political, ideological or national socio-cultural society; that has fuck all concern about the future survival of their particular race, religion, ideology; or class; and (b) have sweet fuck all credibility before a root cause problem solving Buck Stops Here truthseeking Arbitrator.

If you haven’t found yourself in an overcrowded dormitory prison, where you are the only white non-violent accused amongst 40 black predator murderers; only black non-violent accused amongst 40 predator klansmen murderers; only christian non-violent accused amongst 40 muslim predator murderers, only muslim non-violent accused amongst 40 buddhist predator murderers, etc; with no Magomed or Caruso steel bridge prison guards; you probably don’t have any complaints yet about your nation’s ‘fuck honour factual reality’ matchstick bridge legal system.

Sympathy for the Devil: To Whom It May Concern:
‘It’s not the round with your name on it you gotta watch out for, it’s the one that’s addressed “To Whom it May Concern” was the phrase that contained the two ways of looking at life and death in Vietnam.’

‘The wars change, but never the young men who have to survive them to bring home the bad news: wars are never about peace with honour; they are about death, dying, and terminal sadness; if the human animal can’t live without them, perhaps we don’t deserve to continue.’

‘He was alive and then he was dead so quickly, but it didn’t seem quick to Hanson. It was like watching someone you love turn his back on you and walk away in long deliberate strides and knowing that nothing you do or say can make him stop and turn around, but thinking that there must be something if only you could think of it in time, and then it is too late because he is gone, because in all that long time you watched him walk away, you didn’t do whatever it was you should have done, to say what it was he needed to hear so he could stop and come back.’

‘He was more afraid than he had ever thought possible, not just an exaggeration of the fear he had known in his life before but a whole new emotion, an emotion as powerful and unexpected as love.’

Agent Orange: “The cells of the trees and plants grew until they ruptured and died, like the inner cities of America, the spirit-killing suburbs, the urban freeways and commuter air corridors, as if America’s poison for growth had been concentrated into the oily mist that made the jungle swell like a cancer, burst and die.”

The names of the illegal cross-border [into Laos and Cambodia] units were kept as vague as possible and changed from time to time. The individual soldiers in the units might be referred to in official reports as ‘detection operation systems personnel’ or ‘border control structure components’.
Approximately 80% of the reliable intelligence about enemy troop movements came from these patrols but was attributed to other sources, such as captured documents, friendly villagers, aircraft spottings and enemy defectors. Vietnam, some said, was a “polite war,” and it was illegal to cross borders.
Most of the security precautions were not taken in an attempt to confuse the enemy. The enemy knew the day a unit had its name changed or when a new launch site was planned. Their spies and sympathizers were everywhere, from maids to field grade officers. No, the complex, often ridiculous security measures were part of an effort to protect Special Forces operations from American political and military investigation.
Public opinion about the war could change in the time it took to look up from your potatoes at 10 seconds of garbled film footage on the evening news, and some hustling young congressman would be out to get the truth, once again, on the controversial Green Berets. By the time he got the necessary secret, top-secret and need-to-know clearances to start sorting through hundreds of confusing, euphemistic, and sanitized reports (sentences and entire pages would be missing, blank pages might have been inserted, stamped “pages 12 through 15 have been removed in accordance with letter, MACV 246 HQ US Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, dated 15 June 68, as not relevant to debriefing requirements”) in an attempt to get publicity as a “concerned American” or a peace candidate, the operations would have new names, and all information would have been refiled under “Terrain Studies During Monsoon Conditions.”
Field grade and general officers in the regular Army wanted to see all Special Forces operations discontinued – and the majority did. The regular Army which has always distrusted elite units – had almost as much difficulty as the congressman. With only a year in Vietnam, they had to devote most of their time to trying to devise some tactic, novel and flamboyant enough to justify their promotion, or to orchestrate an operation big and bloody enough to make the headlines, ensuring their promotion and a medal.

[Hanson comments on how there were two sets of ‘official documents’ and WHY.]

NOFORM [classified version, seen only by American personnel] version contained all the facts, while the other set was used to maintain the illusion that the Americans were only advising the Vietnamese in conducting the war, when in fact the Americans seemed to be fighting the war in spite of the Vietnamese.

Law Review of Books Review: Sympathy for the Devil

IN A PERVERSE SORT OF WAY, I’ve always regretted missing Vietnam. Even though I did everything I could — including marriage, graduate school, and the Peace Corps — to avoid the draft, the big Nam was, after all, the formative experience of my generation. I’ve read most of the novels, waiting for the really heavy one to come along and tell me what I missed. Tim O’Brien’s peculiar Going After Cacciato probably came the closest, but still, that book just didn’t make it for me. And most of the rest chased that predictable, high-strung arc from starry-eyed recruit to stone-bitter vet, wearing a hapless humanitarianism on their sleeve. One day in 1988 in a London bookstore, I stumbled upon Kent Anderson’s Sympathy for the Devil. I bought it because an acknowledgment inside mentioned Jim Crumley, a Montana hardboiled novelist I like, but little did I expect the fiendish trap waiting for me between the covers. When I dipped into the book on the tube home, I was suddenly stuck fast in a chilling, no-pest-strip of horror that hasn’t let me go to this day. When I finish books, I date them on the last page, out of some inexplicably daffy anality, and over the next decade this page acquired eight separate dates. The novel’s central character, Sgt. Hanson, reads Yeats on his long-range patrols, from a paperback molded to the shape of his leg. But he is no ineffectual idealist, yearning to be back “in the world”; in fact, halfway through his story, he does his best to come home. When he gets there he can only loop off into inarticulate rages against the civilians who remain innocent of his brittle world:

“Getting cut doesn’t even hurt if the knife is sharp enough,” Hanson said, and he laid open a three-inch gash on the back of his own forearm, snapped the knife closed, and slipped it into his pocket. Blood seeped down the arm and in between the webbing of his fingers. He looked at the blood collecting on his fingertips and dripping on the floor.

Did you ever think about the Devil — about what a hard job he’s got? He does all the work and God just sits around and takes all the credit for everything. The Devil’s got to jump around and hiss and sneer, ’cause that’s the job he got stuck with. Go out there every day and deliver the pain. Deliver the pain for that slimy asshole God. And everybody hates him for it.

Hanson is a Green Beret who’s fallen hard for the God of War, and he and his pals — like any 18-year-olds given heavy weapons — are helplessly in love with the heady power of it all: “Hanson inhaled and smelt gunpowder and sweet blood. He could taste it on the backs of his eyeballs. He felt as if he had aligned himself with the fault lines beneath the earth. He could point his finger and tracers would appear. His gestures set off explosions.”

War, like sin, has a terrible dark attraction. Hanson’s pals Quinn and Silver are truly brutal, trained to be marauders in a land they don’t even want to understand.

Quinn was much bigger than Hanson. He was bigger than anyone else in the bar. His features were as small and blunt as his eyes. It was a face that could take a lot of damage and still function. The milky blue eyes seemed to have been set in his head just so he could look for somebody to kill. They were eyes that tourists on back roads have nightmares about-the kind of eyes that watch you from next to the Coke machine in that smalltown gas station, and keep watching you as the old pump rings and rings and rings up the sale, while you check the locks on the doors and wish you were back on the Interstate.

Quinn rarely smiled. When he did smile, it was not a comforting expression.

Hanson is only an inch removed from this abyss of massive transgression, but it’s a crucial inch. He enjoys war in the way Kurtz must have enjoyed his depredations in the Congo, sucked in by a lunatic logic and unquenchable vanity. The heart of this particular darkness is that — through Hanson — Anderson forces you to share in the enjoyment of war, seducing you with the cruel humor and camaraderie and expertise of killcraft. Sympathy for the Devil is often a very funny book, and the humor is a weapon in your seduction. Like it or not, you come to participate in this profane universe, with all its hellish moral ambiguity.

And then, in an ending unlike anything else in war literature, Anderson turns all this mad logic against you in a nihilist ordeal of such power that comedy and tragedy flow into one another, and you can only watch numbly as your values float away facedown in the river. It’s like being bought off by someone truly evil, coming to accept the horror of your corruption, and then having your corruptor turn and mock you for it.

Let me try to come at my fascination with this chilling novel in another way. There is a ragged little outpost of literature that I find I enjoy more than most other kinds. It seems to me to be the harsh breath of the modern world — and I apologize in advance if it also seems to be largely a male preserve. Some inhabitants: Raymond Chandler, Don DeLillo, Robert Stone, Richard Ford (especially the magnificent and overlooked The Ultimate Good Luck). The books are morally serious, hard-edged, and unsentimental, dealing with silences and disappointment and inner strength. And rage. Often, but not always, they are minimalist in form. This harsh outpost is full of spare dialogue out of Hemingway, using crisp and indirect description that is often witty and vivid, and shocking for its abrupt, concrete metaphors. More inhabitants: John Gregory Dunne and Joan Didion, Conrad, some Graham Greene, even some Nadine Gordimer (think of The Conservationist). None of these writers live exclusively on this dangerous frontier, out among the Picts and wild men who paint themselves blue, but most of the ones I’ve mentioned have paid their dues out there. They know that the world is not benign, not easy, not pacific and, above all, probably not redeemable in any grand fashion. The men and women who must go down these mean tales cannot themselves be mean.

It’s a noble existential calling. Out on the frontier, our surrogate adventurers have to face the ugly and cruel on a daily basis, reinventing human decency from scratch. It’s a bleak vision, and the characters are often too willing to settle for less rather than more. Sometimes, it’s enough for them simply to know that decency might have been, but wasn’t.

Hanson patrols that terrain for us. He is as witty and vivid and frightening as any of the other characters from the authors I’ve mentioned, and though he never finds anything to plug the God-sized hole in the world, he offers a Hanson-sized presence.

I sent Kent Anderson a mash note some time ago because I liked his book so much, and we ended up swapping novels and letters. He told me of rare “sightings” friends made of his book on bookstore shelves here and there across the country, and of his fantasy (common to many novelists) that the publisher maintained a conveyor belt that ran from the warehouse straight to the shredder. His first reviewers had mistaken the book for one of those lobotomized war fantasies that come in noxious sequels — The Butcher: No. 23. “Morally repugnant,” one review said. I suppose it wasn’t all that surprising, given the book’s unflinching gaze at the megalomaniac attractions of power. But this weirdly aberrant reading consigned Anderson to the numbing hell of bloodlust fiction — all those lame, macho books with snakes and hard-eyed gunmen on the cover that you only seem to find on rolling shelves outside used bookstores. (Where do they sell them new? Porn outlets?)

These reviewers couldn’t have made it through to the end of the book. I won’t give away the bone-chilling details that mark the implosion of Hanson’s universe, but there’s no way to mistake it for a rabid, “feel-good” shoot ’em-up. Kent Anderson’s faithful readers — myself among them — know better. Of course, it took me a long time to go visit Anderson in person. After all, he actually had been a Green Beret, and I could never be quite sure he wouldn’t punch my lights out when he learned I had been an anti-war activist.

Keystone Predators maintain Ecological Equilibrium:
A keystone species — like the Platteau Pika in China or the Black Tailed Prairie Dog in Arizona — has a disproportionate effect on its environment relative to its abundance, affecting many other organisms in an ecosystem, helping to determine the types and numbers of various others species in a community. Such an organism plays a role in its ecosystem that is analogous to the role of a keystone in an arch. While the keystone feels the least pressure of any of the stones in an arch, the arch still collapses without it. Ecosystems experience a dramatic loss of biodiversity & equilibrium if the keystone species is removed. Keystone Predator-prey systems enhance ecological equilibrium and balance.

A starfish is the top predator upon a community of invertebrates inhabiting tidally inundated rock faces in the Pacific Northwest. The rest of the community included mollusks, barnacles and other invertebrates, for a total of 12 species (not counting microscopic taxa). When the starfish was removed the species were reduced to 11. Soon, an acorn barnacle and a mussel began to occupy virtually all available space, out competing other species. Species diversity dropped from more than 12 species to essentially 2. The starfish was a keystone predator, keeping the strongest competitors in check. Although it was a predator, it helped to maintain a greater number of species in the community. Its beneficial impact on species that were weak competitors is an example of an indirect effect.

CommonSism Jurisprudence, restricting all human cultures, religions, races, etc to procreating and consuming below regional, national and international carrying capacity limits; if implemented function as a form of ‘legal /jurisprudence starfish’ Keystone predation, by eliminating the breeding and consuming predator cheaters, to (a) keep the system stable with regard to human population vis a vis other species and resources; and (b) restrict any one religion, race, or culture from overpredation; by outcompeting all other species (due to greater access to capital (consumption war predatory benefits) or human cannon fodder (breeding war predatory benefits).

Predator/Parasite-Prey Growth-Collapse Cycle:
Predation: Predator-Prey and parasite-host involves interactions in which one organism consumes all or part (resources) of another. These linkages are the prime movers of energy through food chains. They are an important factor in the ecology of populations, determining mortality of prey and birth of new predators. Predation is an important evolutionary force: natural selection favors more effective predators and more evasive prey. “Arms races” have been recorded in some snails, which over time become more heavily armored prey, and their predators, crabs, which over time develop more massive claws with greater crushing power. Growth-Collapse predator-prey systems are potentially unstable.

Humans who engage in totalitarian agriculture, engage in Predator-Prey Growth and Collapse of Civilization/Empire cycles: Greco-Rome, Minoan, Mycenaean, Sumerians, Akkadian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Achaemenid, Seleucid, Zhou, Han, Tang, Song, Parthian, Sassanid, Umayyad, Abbasid, Mauryan, Gupta, Maya, Hittite, Harrapan and Teotihuacan. Collapses result from  (1) Ecological Strain and (2) Economic Strati fication and include the disappearance of between 90-99% of the populations (from famine, disease and organized violence resource wars) including their kings, Gods, calendars and other complex political and cultural institutions.

Economic Stratification Collapse occurs due to unequal consumption of resources generating Elites vs Commoners. As Elites become sizable and keep growing, they consume more; their over-exploitation results in collapse of resources to the Commoners; who experience famine and collapse. Elites — due to their wealth — do not suffer the detrimental effects of environmental collapse until much later than Commoners, which allows them to continue ‘business as usual’, despite the impending catastrophe; explaining how historical collapses were allowed to occur by seemingly oblivious elites (eg Roman & Mayan cases).
